AAP’s nabbing 100 days

Capture

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government completed 100 days in office on May 24, 2015.

Political parties in India have a simple rule: Come to power, enjoy for four years, fulfil a couple of promises listed in their manifesto at the onset of the fifth year and reel out a make a new manifesto with same points for the next election. So when AAP got down to work from the very first day, it raised many eyebrows.

My article published on May 24, 2015 in Daily Post on Aam Aadmi Party’s achievements in its 100 days of rule in Delhi.

The Man Who Dreamt

Like Gandhi, King used his religious conviction and belief in non-violence to champion his cause. He transformed himself in to voice that appealed to the conscience of whites. He took a philosophical stand that “in the final analysis, the white man cannot ignore the Negro problem, because he is part of the Negro and the Negro is a part of him. The Negro’s agony diminishes the white man, and the Negro’s salvation enlarges the white man.”

On the occasion of Marti Luther King Day, my piece published in Bangladesh daily, ‘The Daily Star dated January 19, 2015 : The Man Who Dreamt

Delhi versus Washington DC: Why we must let Federalism win

“A true ‘Swaraj’ will only prevail in Delhi when power is vested in the elected representatives. Let us not asphyxiate the principle of federalism by procrastinating the issue of Delhi statehood.”

Building on Swami Vivekananda’s legacy, Paramahansa Yogananda was instrumental in popularising yoga in the West. So relevant are his teachings today that yoga studios are now as common as coffee shops in America

Is US media covering Obama’s India visit?

The Indian media is taking pains to describe at length- even with graphical details- about Air Force One looking no less than a Flying White House, official vehicle of President called ‘the Beast’, his dog soldiers, what is plan B for Agra and how sanitary work is in full progress in the cities that he will be visiting.

How unregulated and undisclosed political funding threatens India’s democracy

Just holding free and fair elections in a peaceful manner does not mean all is well with our democracy. The real issue is how we tackle the underlying problem of political finance – the mother of all sins.

AAP’s landslide win in Delhi is a victory of the common man

The stunning victory of Aam Aadmi Party is not only a resounding verdict on the steadfastness, self-belief and hard work of largely volunteer-driven Aam Aadmi Party; it is equally a reminder to the incumbent BJP (at Centre) that public goodwill cannot be sustained if promises are not kept.

स्वास्थ्य सेवा की सुध लेने का समय

Capture h

Universal Health Insurance in India: A way to go forward

Time has come that India catches up with an alternative model of allocating resources and funding to its public health programs and provide health insurance to its citizens.

My take on how Government-sponsored health care schemes can provide health-for-all published in The Indian Express yesterday: Universal Health Insurance in India: A way to go forward
